Among libraries, lifelong learning is one of those core values by which we shelve our books. So it makes sense that before we embark on this new online learning and discovery journey we should take a few minutes to review a few habits that can assist in creating lifelong learners.
These habits, which we’ve called the Seven and 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners, will provide you with a refresher on what it means to be a lifelong learner. The following video, created by Lori Reed of the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, is our next Discovery Exercise.
Discovery Exercise:
- Make sure you have either the sound headphones or speakers attached to your computer.
- Open up the 7 & 1/2 Habits online tutorial and view it.
- As you watch and listen, write down which habit among the 7 & 1/2 that is easiest for you and which is hardest. You will use your personal blog (which you will set up next) to post your thoughts about lifelong learning.
If you have any trouble downloading the attachments that go with the video, you can get them here.
Have fun! And if you haven’t jumped on board yet, it’s never too late to become a lifelong learner.
Next Up: Creating your blog so you can begin tracking your journey. Several staff have already taken a jump start on this activity, so if you’re up to it, why not join the early bird crowd?
How do you join the earlybird crowd?
librarygirl15: You can join the early bird crowd by going ahead and setting up your blog. If you email me the URL for your blog, or leave it in a comment on the Participants’ Page, then I can link you there. Next week, when we do Thing #3, you can then register your blog in the Tracking Log on CMLsi and get credit for completing that Thing. I hope this helps!
