About the Learn & Play @ CML:
This blog has been set-up as part of CML’s Learning 2.0 (“Learn & Play @ CML“) to encourage staff to experiment and learn about the new and emerging technologies that are reshaping the context of information on the Internet today. The objectives of this program are to:
- encourage exploration of Web 2.0 and new technologies by CML staff;
- provide staff with new tools (that are freely available on the Internet) to better support CML’s mission: to promote reading and guide learning in the pursuit of information, knowledge, and wisdom, and;
- reward staff for taking the initiative to complete 23 self-discovery exercises.
The Learning 2.0 program was designed by Helene Blowers, Digital Services Director for the Columbus Metropolitan Library, and is loosely based upon Stephen Abram’s article, 43 Things I (or You) might want to do this year (Information Outlook Feb 2006) and the web site 43 Things.
The design of this online program was completely built on Web 2.0 technologies that are freely available on the Internet. These sites include: WordPress, Flickr, Odeo, YouTube, PBWiki & Bloglines.
Staff Prizes and Incentives
The 23 Things: Every staff member who completes all 23 Things will receive a 1 GB flash drive. Staff have until November 11th to complete all 23 items in order to receive the flash drive.
Other Prizes: All staff who complete the Learn & Play @ CML Program and do all 23 Things will be entered in a drawing to win other prizes, in addition to the flash drive. Other prizes that are available are a digital camera,*
an iPod Shuffle,*
a video recorder,*
and, the grand prize, a laptop computer!*
* (Models and specifications may vary from photos.)
Outside participants are welcome to follow along with CML staff as they go through these 23 Things, but only CML staff are eligible for the prizes. Only those CML staff that complete the 23 Things and record their progress in the Learn & Play Tracking Log on CMLsi will be entered into the drawing for the prizes.

Most of what I hear people talking about sounds alot like Chinese to me, I must be watching to much of the Olympics. I’m expecting a wild ride as I learn all these new things.
Teach me, master.
